IOWA CITY — When the Kids Day open practice comes around, you know the Iowa football season is just about here.

The Hawkeyes’ annual meet-and-greet, coupled with an open scrimmage, gets underway at 11 a.m. Saturday inside Kinnick Stadium. We’re just three weeks away from Iowa’s Aug. 31 season opener against Illinois State. The anticipation is growing.

Live from the action in Iowa City are Register reporters Chad Leistikow, Tyler Tachman and Dargan Southard, who will provide analysis and commentary throughout the day. And keep it locked on this Hawk Central live blog for all kinds of Kids Day scrimmage updates.

10:17 a.m. – We have special teamers on the field!

Plenty of new storylines on the special teams front, most notably new punter Rhys Dakin taking over for the legendary Tory Taylor. Punters and kickers on the field early as the autograph session continues.

Scrimmage starts in about 30 minutes.
