Alabama Champion Aviation Camp Director

Major Anthony Tisdale in the United States Air Force knows what it is like to be a child dreaming of flying.

But like many other children, he also experienced the barriers to becoming a pilot.

With a mother who believed in him and encouraged him to achieve his dreams, he set out to find a way to pay for flight school.

At an early age, he would do odd jobs and make just enough for the next flight lesson. He made his dream come true and didn’t stop there.

He also became a fighter pilot and an airline pilot. He also works for the Federal Aviation Administration.

He takes time out of his busy schedule to be a camp director for kids in Walker County Alabama.

For three days, children from underserved areas get a chance to experience a discovery flight, learn how planes fly, and learn about the man career opportunities in the aviation industry.

Major Tisdale now enjoys giving back at the Operation Aviation Foundation through the Aviation Career Education Academy.
