The track and field events at the 2024 Paris Olympics have been electric, and American Quincy Hall just added to the ever-growing list of memorable moments.

Hall found himself well behind the leaders for much of the men’s 400m race on Wednesday. It would have been easy for him to accept a middle-of-the-pack finish and still take pride in reaching the Olympic final.

Instead, he turned on the jets for the closing stretch of his lifetime:

Hall won the gold medal in incredible fashion with a time of 43.40 seconds. He defeated Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith by .04 seconds, while Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga took home the bronze at 43.74 seconds.

The victory from Hall drew plenty of reaction from social media:

Quincy Hall and Cole Hocker so far with the Big Dawg Olympic Hall of Fame performances. Sheeesh!

Dramatic comebacks have been the name of the game for the United States in the men’s track and field events, as Noah Lyles and Cole Hocker did so as well in the 100m and 1,500m, respectively.

As for Hall, he will surely never forget his first career gold medal.
