Kevin Durant coined what one USA Basketball fan called the “Slogan of the generation” after Team USA’s epic comeback win over Serbia in the Olympic semifinals on Thursday.
Durant, Steph Curry and LeBron James helped the U.S. overcome a 17-point second-half deficit — and a 13-point hole to start the fourth quarter — to beat Serbia 95-91 to advance to Saturday’s gold-medal game against host France.
‘A lot of b******t happens in our country. But a lot of great things happen, too.’ Durant said, per the San Antonio Express News.
“Slogan of the generation,” one USA Basketball fan posted on Twitter.
Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News later posted that the Tweet “has been liked by venture capitalists and by law school deans and by Tom Morello. By the machine, and by the rage. Truly inspiring unity.”
In a separate post from USA Basketball, Durant, the all-time U.S. Olympic scoring leader, called the game a “night we’ll never forget.”
“That’s what this is about, you know what I mean,” he said while sitting next to his mother and eating a post-game meal. “We all come together as one on the other side of the world like this.
“Our section [started] ‘USA’ chants. It’s special tonight, man, so we gotta celebrate…I know we want to win the gold, but you gotta celebrate the small moments, too.
“Guarantee you everybody here [going to] never forget about this night. Everybody here going to remember this night for the rest of their lives. That’s how special it is here. And because we came back and we showed how together we were in that fourth quarter, it was special.”
