LA Knight defeated Logan Paul in a United States Championship match at SummerSlam on Saturday, giving him the first title of his WWE career.
The Maverick nailed Knight with a pair of brass knuckles he took from his friend, rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
The Megastar quickly turned the tables, though, countering Paul’s attempted springboard lariat into the BFT for the win.
Paul entered SummerSlam having held the U.S. title for over 270 days, but he only defended the championship on two occasions prior to Saturday.
Over the past couple of months, Paul has been embroiled in a rivalry with Knight, and his lack of activity was one of The Megastar’s biggest talking points, as he often noted that he couldn’t confront the YouTuber since he was rarely present for SmackDown.
That prompted Knight to invite himself into Paul’s home at one point and swim in his pool, which the Prime founder didn’t find amusing.
Knight was finally able to get his hands on the social media star during the June 28 episode of SmackDown when they competed in a Triple Threat match against Santos Escobar for the right to take part in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Thanks to some help from New York Knicks superstar guard Jalen Brunson at Madison Square Garden, Knight pinned Paul to qualify for MITB.
After Knight failed to secure the Money in the Bank contract, he set his sights back on Paul and the United States Championship, and he pushed SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis to grant him a title match.
Once the decision was made for Knight and Paul to clash in a United States Championship match at SummerSlam, a contract signing was held on a recent episode of SmackDown.
Both Paul and Knight took several personal shots at each other, including Paul suggesting that Knight was a rip-off of The Rock and Knight expressing his belief that Paul was a coward.
They finally got the chance to settle their differences and prove themselves at SummerSlam where Knight secured the biggest victory of his career and finally rewarded his passionate fanbase with a championship win.
