Nevadans have picked up six Olympic medals so far for Team USA

The Olympics in Paris is in full swing and athletes who grew up, train and live in Nevada are a big part of the games.

And they’re competing in events ranging from BMX to high jump to basketball to swimming. So far, they’ve won six medals for the USA team: four silvers and two bronzes.

In the meantime, the women’s basketball team, featuring four players on the Las Vegas Aces, play next on Wednesday, against Nigeria. And Las Vegas taekwondo practitioner Faith Dillon’s next match is Thursday in the women’s 57 kg round of 16 against Tunisia’s Chaima Toumi.

Three of Nevada’s competitors (Beiwen Zhang, badminton; Vashti Cunningham, high jump; and Alexis Lagan, shooting) did not medal this year.
