Hear JC Latham’s reaction after the first day of Titan’s training camp
Titan’s seventh overall draft pick speaks on how the first day on NFL training camp went.
After getting taken seventh overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2024 NFL Draft, offensive tackle JC Latham is trying to soak up as much knowledge from the best players in the NFL before going into his rookie season.
As part of his offseason self-training, Latham looked for veteran help while trying to make the transition from college into the NFL. And in the case of the 6-foot-6, 342-pound lineman out of Alabama, he looked to no other than “the best offensive tackle in the league.”
“I spent a week down with Trent Williams training with him, just going over the details of everything,” Latham said.
During his week with the 11-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Latham admired Williams — who spent 10 seasons with Washington before joining San Francisco in 2020 — for how “open he was with his mistakes.”
Latham and other players watched and broke down Williams’ film against 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. After the week, one of Latham’s major takeaways was understanding the need to have a high level of self-accountability in order to be successful in the NFL.

“His awareness of what he needed to do better . . . Sometimes (coaches) have so much that they gotta do, so you kind of have to coach yourself,” he said. “That’s the peak of the game. If you’re at the peak of the game, you’re always trying to find ways to be better.”
While learning from those who have come before him has been a major key for Latham, he still needs the on-field experience. That starts with training camp, where he has been able to pick up on one thing he hopes will improve as he approaches his first game with the Titans.
“The one thing I really want to work on is seeing the whole field. (Being in the NFL) it’s a lot more intangibles than college,” Latham said. “You have to focus on the cadence . . . You have to pay attention to the defense. Every play has a set rule on whatever, depending on what the defense is in, so you gotta understand every single play down to the minute detail. Then your get-off and technique that goes along with it.
“So just being able to see everything all at once and put it all together, just to go out there and play is something that I will always continue to look to improve on.”
