The United States and Brazil will meet in the quarterfinal round in a rematch of the 2008 gold medal game in Beijing. Neither nation won a medal in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, but prior to that, Brazil had appeared in the gold medal match in four straight Olympics. Brazil and the old Soviet Union are tied for the all-time lead with six total men’s volleyball medals, while the United States is tied with both countries with three gold medals.
