It’s Time To Start Thinking Frost In Montana
I know, I know, it’s still summer in Montana. However, fall is just around the corner. Most Montana kids grew up with a copy of the Farmer’s Almanac in their homes.
For those who don’t know, it’s the farmer’s edition of old wives tales, and it’s actually fairly accurate. Now, with that being said, the ground hog is right half the time, too. When I looked it up, most places, like this Wikipedia article, they say:
“Most scientific analyses of the accuracy of Farmers’ Almanac forecasts have shown a 50% rate of accuracy, which is higher than that of groundhog prognostication, a folklore method of forecasting. USA Today states that “according to numerous media analyses neither the Old Farmer’s Almanac nor the Farmers’ Almanac gets it right.”
So, basically, use this to get an idea. What I will say, we usually get frost right around the time the almanac says almost every single year. We usually stop getting frost right around the time the almanac predicts every single year.
That being said, I thought I’d see what the Farmer’s Almanac said about this year in Montana.
