‘DunkQueen’: Miss Massachusetts dons Dunkin’-inspired outfit at Miss USA Pageant

First it was the “The DunKings,” then came “The DunkQueen.”

Massachusetts’ devotion to Dunkin’ was on full display at the 2024 Miss USA Pageant as Miss Massachusetts Melissa Sapin donned a special Dunkin’-inspired costume for the competition.

Sapini, who also wears the crown of Dunkin’Tern, designed her onstage look with the help of Dunkin’.

Taking inspiration from The DunKings tracksuits, Sapini’s outfit featured bright shades of pink and orange along with a donut-inspired ring that read “DUNKQUEEN.”

“Every Miss USA contestant needs a show-stopping, state-inspired costume, and Miss Massachusetts had the perfect ensemble, embodying Dunkin’s rich Massachusetts heritage,” Dunkin’ said about the getup. “The costume is a complete work of art, blending Melissa’s Haitian heritage with Massachusetts pride.”

Sapini’s mother, who was with her on competition day, immigrated to the United States from Haiti 23 years ago and her first meal (a bagel with cream cheese and a hot coffee) in the U.S. was at Dunkin’, the company said.

Sapini’s design helped her placed in the top 10 at the 73rd annual ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 4, which was won by Miss Michigan Alma Cooper.
