The Australian duo secured a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, so they were one of the best teams at the competition this year. Notably, Team USA lost the first set in their most recent match against China’s Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi. However, the American squad was able to win back-to-back sets and earn the victory. Kloth and Nuss showcased their resilience in the match, as they had to overcome a large deficit and a weather delay.
The Canadian squad finished pool play in third place, as they barely reached the knockout stage with a 1-2 record. The team won their opening match in two sets, but they struggled mightily during their last two games.
Canada was able to bounce back with a victory in the lucky loser match, sweeping Czechia’s duo to earn a spot in the quarterfinal round.
