Wisconsin Basketball Makes Final Cut For Dominant 4-Star In-State Native

Wisconsin basketball

The Wisconsin basketball program has made the cut for one of their primary 2025 targets after the forward announced his final six schools.

Amari Allen, a four-star forward in the 2025 class, is a Wisconsin native who moved to Bradenton, Florida to play for the notable IMG Academy. The Wisconsin basketball staff had worked to keep a close relationship with Allen during his time in the state, and has continued to keep consistent contact with the forward while in Florida. With the announcement Allen delivered regarding his list of schools, a return to Wisconsin is still very possible for the recruit.

The Wisconsin basketball staff received excellent news last evening when four-star forward Amari Allen included Wisconsin in his final six schools. The 2025 forward grew up in Wisconsin, but traveled down to Florida to attend IMG Academy to finish out his high school career. Since moving, Wisconsin has kept a close line of contact and the Badgers have remained hopeful that Allen will return home.

Allen announced via X (Formerly known as Twitter) that he has cut down his list of schools to Alabama, Nevada, Mississippi State, UCF, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin basketball staff has plenty of competition ahead of them in order to land a commitment from the prized recruit.

With the cutdown of his list, Allen has chosen an interesting group of schools but nevertheless a tough group to recruit against. The conference rival Minnesota Golden Gophers have brought in seven transfers and two enrollees including four-star guard Isaac Asuma. In the 2025 class, Minnesota is yet to have landed any commitments but most notably remains in play for Allen.

Alabama is another team on the list of Allen and by far pose the biggest threat in the recruiting department. The Crimson Tide have the second-ranked 2024 recruiting class that includes the 16th-ranked recruit Derrion Reid as well as three other four-star commitments. The Tide have also been one of the busiest teams in the transfer portal, adding ten commitments in three years via the portal including guard Mark Sears and forward Grant Nelson.

While Alabama is a basketball recruiting powerhouse, another team that the Wisconsin staff will have to compete against heavily is UCF. Since moving down to Florida to continue his basketball career at a higher level, the UCF Knights have been keeping close contact with Allen. It is just near a three-hour trip from Bradenton to Orlando, and it has recently become a possibility that Allen stays in Florida.

There is no doubt that landing a commitment from Allen would be a difficult task given the schools he is interested in. However, there is also a chance that Allen would return to his home state after spending time away during his high school career. Allen has kept a consistent line of contact with the Wisconsin basketball staff since moving, and still holds plenty of interest in the program.

Along with his announcement, Allen also revealed the visits he has already scheduled with each program. The forward will be in Madison from September 13th to the 15th to visit the staff and experience the campus. This visit could be crucial for the Badgers as it is likely the last time he will be on campus before he makes his commitment.

The Wisconsin basketball staff will really need to impress Allen during his visit to display why he should come back home.
