Summer is the most pivotal part of scouting for both teams and fans. The idea is to educate yourself on the players who could be selected in next April’s draft and who could play for or against the Vikings.
The latter part is critical to our Summer scouting here on Vikings Wire.
The Minnesota Vikings and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah only have three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft heading into the Summer. More could be acquired through trade or the compensatory variety, but for now, that is all the ammo they have.
The lack of draft picks means this series will focus on the players we are likely to play against or who could cause problems for the team in the future. Every position will be covered so that you, the reader, can be a complete NFL fan as much as you are a Vikings fan. Educating yourself on these prospects is critical to better understanding the offseason as a whole, and we feel we can fill in the gaps.

Recovery
Wyatt Milum doesn’t get beat often on reps, but when he does, he never loses balance and can quickly re-establish himself. He has good grip strength, so sometimes defenders get around him in a way, but he never loses sight or feel of where the defender is. This goes a long way in him being able to turn his hips and correct himself to give his quarterback more time.
Pass Protection
With Garrett Green as the quarterback, the Mountaineers have become a pass-happy offense. Milum gets a good amount of pass protection reps, and he has done extremely well in allowing his quarterback to work in clean pockets. In 2023, Milum didn’t allow a single sack the entire season, and it showed on film that no matter who he faced, he was more than able to hold his own.
Anchor Ability
Milum and his anchor ability are a big part of why he has so much success in pass protection. He has a good base, balanced feet, keeps himself squared, and doesn’t lose momentum in any battles with defenders. It is his most impressive trait, and I see him having it as the key to his success in the NFL.

Wyatt Milum doesn’t flash anything insane on film but doesn’t give you any reason to believe he won’t succeed in the NFL. He is great in pass protection, has good balance, anchors well, and recovers very well when he is beaten. Right now, he could be a plug-and-play tackle for any team in need of it, and they would succeed. Milum is just a rock along the offensive line, and I am excited to see him work against the likes of Penn State, Iowa State, and Cincinnati this year, which have strong defensive lines.
