Taylor Swift Reacts to Thousands of Fans Watching Show From Outside Stadium

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has reacted to the thousands of fans who couldn’t score tickets to her record-breaking Eras Tour show in Munich, Germany, and assembled on a hill overlooking the concert.

The pop superstar is in the middle of the European leg of her tour and performed shows in Munich on July 27 and 28. Following this, she will head to Warsaw in Poland; then Vienna, Austria; and finally, London, England.

Over the weekend, Swifties packed the Olympic Hill, or Olympiaberg, one of the highest spots in the German city. This allowed them to view the singer’s sold-out concert in the nearby Olympic Stadium.

Swift addressed the dedicated fans during her Saturday concert, and posts on social media showing the impressive turnout have gone viral.

Newsweek emailed Swift’s spokesperson for comment on Monday.

An X account (formerly Twitter) belonging to a Swift fan dedicated to sharing updates on the Eras Tour under the username @tswifterastour posted on Saturday: “Taylor Swift acknowledging the insane crowd of people on the hill outside the stadium at today’s show in Munich, Germany!”

The post included a video of Swift talking to the audience, in which she said: “We’ve got people in a park outside the stadium, thousands of people listening from out there! I just feel so incredibly welcome.”

In the same post, the X user shared a photo of the fans congregated on the hill. At the time of writing, the post had been viewed more than 1.1 million times.

The X user @thisisvertrying, another Swift fan account, shared a video of all of the fans packed on Olympic Hill, with many having brought picnic blankets and beach umbrellas to protect themselves from the heat.

“this close-up is legitimate insane, wym (what do you mean) this may people went there just to sit on grass while listening to live music from the stadium far away from them,” the user posted, and the comment had been viewed over 2.2 million times at the time of writing.

Local police had estimated that approximately 40,000 people had assembled on the Olympic Hill on Saturday, according to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

Swift performed her set for 74,000 spectators inside the stadium.

This trend is known as “Taylor-gating,” which is when fans congregate outside sold-out shows to listen and sing along together. This has been popular among her fans since the Eras Tour began in 2023.

After her last show in London in August, she will make a few last-minute appearances in American cities, including Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis. She is scheduled to end her tour in Canada, with multiple shows in November and December. The tour is expected to conclude on December 8 in Vancouver, five days before her 35th birthday on December 13.

In July 2023, Swift started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, with the couple going public with their relationship in September. The Chiefs, who won this year’s Super Bowl, started training camp on July 23, and it will run until August 17, with only six days off in that period. This means Kelce will be busy while Swift is on the road.

Kelce made the most of his time with Swift before training camp, and supported her at another Eras Tour stop. On July 18, the couple were seen leaving Swift’s concert in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, wrapped in a sweet embrace after the performance, with videos being shared on social media.

During the show, which was the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s 13th time seeing his girlfriend perform, Swift gave a shoutout to Kelce while singing “Karma,” referring to him as “the guy on the Chiefs.” She first introduced this sweet lyric change in November and has made it a regular occurrence whenever Kelce is in the audience.
