Michigan Is Preparing For A Major Fight Against The NCAA For Their Cheating Scandal That Could Cost Them The Postseason

Jim Harbaugh

The past year has been exhausting regarding the Michigan cheating scandal, which involved them illegally recording opposing teams’ signs. Former head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for the last three regular-season games in the Big Ten by the conference last year and then jumped ship after they won the national championship to the NFL so he would not have to be punished anymore by the NCAA.

The time is finally coming, and the NCAA could be coming out with possible violations against the Wolverines this upcoming week. Chris Balas from On3, who writes for Wolverine.com, stated on Monday that ” the NCAA is prepared to issue a Notice of Allegations against Michigan as soon as Tuesday. Per Balas’ report, Michigan is expected to be hit with Level I violations for the off-campus, in-person scouting operation led by former staffer Connor Stalions.”

An article from elevenwarriors.com and Balas from On3.com stated, “A source indicated that the NCAA could seek to ban Michigan from the postseason for one or two years. Michigan is expected to fight back against any postseason ban, and it’s unlikely the ban would go into effect this year, as Michigan’s appeal is unlikely to be heard by the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions until 2025.”

Michigan is not expected to have to give up any of its wins from the last three seasons or last year’s title, but a postseason ban in future years is heavily on the table.Michigan Wolverines, Jim HarbaughMichigan head coach Jim Harbaugh watches from the sideline in the second quarter during the College Football Playoff national championship game against Washington at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.

The Wolverines not having to give up any wins or their title has to be the biggest joke of the century. They cheated for three years, and their cheating affected the outcome of the games that were played. Still, instead of making them give up wins for those games, they will suspend them from the postseason down the road when they aren’t cheating anymore, and the players and coaches who had nothing to do with the cheating scandal get punished for it.

Once again, the NCAA has no idea what it is doing, and if it wanted to send a message to the sport, it would vacate all of the wins from 2021-2023, their Big Ten titles, and last season’s National Championship and ban them from future playoffs.
