The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris begin this week, with competitions on Wednesday and there are more than 30 people who were born in Florida gearing up to compete for Team USA.

Live Sports On TV, a website that posts TV schedules and streaming information for popular sporting events in the U.S. and Canada, just released a study ranking which states have produced the most athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

And Florida ranks in the top 20 states, taking population into account, that have the largest representation at the Olympics this year.

Here’s where Florida ranks on this list and how many athletes competing in the Olympics were born in Florida.

When do the 2024 summer Olympics start?

The Paris 2024 Olympics begin on Wednesday, July 24. The first two events of the Games are men’s soccer and rugby sevens.

However, the games do not officially begin until the Opening Ceremony in Paris, which will be from 1:30 to 5:15 p.m. EDT on Friday, July 26.

When do the 2024 Summer Olympics end?

If you miss the opening ceremony, you still have 16 days to watch the Games. The last day of the 2024 Paris Olympics is Sunday, Aug. 11.

There will be 13 gold medal events, including men’s water polo, women’s volleyball and the women’s marathon final.

Which state has the most Olympians?

Live Sports on TV found the states with the most Olympians representing them by taking data of the Paris Olympic athletes and their birthplace, or hometown. They then ranked each state based on the number of Olympic athletes weighted against the state’s population.

So, although Washington D.C. tops the list proportion-wise, Florida has 31 more athletes in the Olympics than D.C., according to the study.

Here are the top 20 states with the highest proportion of Olympic athletes compared to the state’s population:

Washington D.C., 4 athletesHawaii, 5 athletesColorado, 19 athletesCalifornia, 123 athletesVermont, 2 athletesDelaware, 3 athletesMassachusetts, 19 athletesMontana, 3 athletesIndiana, 16 athletesNevada, 7 athletesConnecticut, 8 athletesWisconsin, 13 athletesNew Jersey, 19 athletesPennsylvania, 26 athletesIllinois, 25 athletesMaryland, 12 athletesWashington, 13 athletesOregon, 7 athletesFlorida, 35 athletesUtah, 5 athletes

This list includes more athletes than the 35 accounted for in the study, because it’s a list of all of the Olympians who have lived in Florida, not just the ones that claim to be from here.
