Kansas State sends three Wildcats to Paris for the 2024 Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics are upon us and the whole world is ready to watch their athletes compete for the pride of their country.

It is the sports event of the year as it only comes around every four years. Granted this Olympics comes three years after the last ones after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kansas State has its fair share of Olympians, mainly in track and field, but has sent athletes to the big sports stage in other events as well. For the 2024 Olympics, K-State is sending three former and current athletes to Paris for track and field, women’s soccer, and women’s basketball.

Current Kansas State women’s soccer goalkeeper Murphy Sheaff is heading to Pairs with the New Zealand National team as she is originally from the country. Former Wildcat who transfer to Florida State after her time with the Wildcats, Leticia Romero with the Spain National Team. Finally, former Wildcats Eugene Omalla is heading to Paris to represent the Netherlands on the track.

Kansas State has not sent any athletes to the Olympics since 2016 in Rio. Omalla counts as yet another track and field athlete to make it to Olympian status.

The Olympics begin on July 26 and run through August 11 with different events happening throughout the two weeks. Olympians have made the trip to Paris and are settling in and beginning training with their teams. All Olympic coverage can be found on NBC and the Olympic events schedule can be found here.
