Jaded by Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark Fans Have 1 Request for $11 Billion Worth WNBA Team Owner

Many would agree that Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever is in a perplexing position among her fans right now. Since the very beginning of the 28th WNBA season, most had opined on how the head coach Christie Sides should quit owing to some poor in-game decisions. The teammates, too, have been under sharp scrutiny of the generational talent’s followers. On the same lines, the Phoenix franchise owner Mat Ishbia’s latest post has given them an alternate option. Certainly, the fans would very much like to try their luck with it.

Recently, Ishbia took it to his X account to upload a celebratory post. He captioned it, “What an amazing WNBA All-Star Weekend, thank you for allowing Phoenix to host and all the fans for supporting these great women athletes. So excited to see where the WNBA is going and proud to be part of the team!”

Attached with the tweet were a few photos of the event. While one showcased the sold-out arena, two were of the stars from Mercury, one was the odd one out. Interestingly, everyone’s eyes caught how the owner of the Phoenix Mercury posted a photo of Caitlin Clark, making her very first All-Star layup.

The WNBA All-Star weekend was quite fun in Phoenix. All thanks to the Mercury owner, Mat Ishbia. Not only was the All-Star game between Team USA and Team WNBA, a gripping one, but the entertainment aspect of the weekend was also quite on point. In fact, many, including Chiney Ogwumike of ESPN, can still not get over the festivity.

Statistically too, this year’s game was 45% more searched on the internet than ever before. Hence, it was only fair that the man working in the background got to celebrate the success. But Clark’s presence in the tweet got her fans imagining a different storyline for the Fever rookie.

Caitlin Clark fans ditch Indiana Fever as the doors to Phoenix seemingly open

Mat Ishabia’s post was not the only reason why the Iowa sensation’s fans must have seen an opportunity. Throughout the game, Caitlin Clark was talking to Natasha Cloud and Sophie Cunningham present in the stands. In fact, the first-overall pick even tried to obey their request as they asked her to make some three-pointers. Not to mention, Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner have been praising the back-to-back Honda Cup awardee too.

Reflecting on all the facts, a fan gave a reason to Ishbia why he should get Caitlin Clark in the Mercury. They showed bleak hope in the Fever. They suggested how the team could very well mess up the star’s rookie season. However, the Des Moines native has a contract for the next three years and cannot get out of it easily. While this fan was not sure how Ishbia could help her get an exit, they also requested the businessman to do it in any way possible.

“lol Mat how are you planning to get Caitlin Clark out of her contract? (truckload of $$$?) If the Fever f up CC‘s rookie year somehow I urge you to do it. Whatever it takes Mat.”

Many Caitlin Clark fans have also blamed the Fever GM Lin Dunn for not worrying about the player. People have more often than not drawn parallels between how the former Hawkeye was treated in Iowa and her situation now. However, this is what the fate of every first-overall pick looks like. Still, one person came into Ishbia’s comment section to ask for the trade. They gave their opinion that Phoenix would be a better home for the Fever rookie.

“I wish Caitlin Clark could transfer to the Mercury. I’m sure you would care about her and her career way more than the owner of the Fever does. Oh..and you probably wouldn’t allow your GM and coach to treat her like garbage either. I’ll keep praying.🙏”

One follower was quite coy about asking the Phoenix Mercury owner to do what he does and get Caitlin Clark. This year, the Mercury has added Kahleah Copper (former Sky), Natasha Could (former Mystics), and Natasha Mack (former Sky) to its roster. Interestingly, these three players are stat leaders for the team and are also impacting the games positively. Certainly, Ishbia understands business and trades. Maybe he will someday also try for Caitlin Clark since they will soon need a point guard after Diana Taurasi finally hangs her boots up.

“sneaking CC in there .. work your magic Mat👀”

Interestingly, seems like the guard’s humor is as contagious as the need to see her play. Before the draft, many had already planned on how, if Caitlin Clark came to Indiana Fever, her love life would thrive since her boyfriend Connor McCaffery is also a part of the Pacers family. Hence, one fan mentioned how the Mercury will also need to appoint McCaffery if they want CC since she is loyal. Talking about loyalty, another follower mentioned how Ishbia will need to bring in Aliyah Boston as well, who is turning out to be a great player for the rookie.

“If you want Caitlin, have to find a position for Connor. We Midwest girls are loyal”

“Caitlin to Phoenix Mercury! Also please get Aliyah Boston. They come in a package”

It is very interesting how Caitlin Clark’s loyalists were able to turn a mere post, which was originally intended to cheer on the All-Star Weekend’s success, into a loophole. However, neither Ishbia nor the rookie have responded to this. But the Fever is on a decent run now. Possibly, they will also keep their seed in the playoff spots by the end of the season.
