For his final season of collegiate eligibility, Will Howard is attempting to become Ohio State’s starting quarterback.
Howard spent four seasons at Kansas State and transferred to the Buckeyes in January. He shares an OSU quarterback room with Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, Air Noland and Lincoln Kienholz.
Howard will make his Ohio State debut at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 when the Buckeyes host Akron for the 2024 season opener.

Will Howard did not have an Ohio State recruiting offer

Howard was not seemingly on Ohio State’s shortlist in the 2020 recruiting class.
Howard was the No. 882 prospect in the country per 247Sports’ composite rankings and was the No. 33 pro-style quarterback in the class out of Downington West High School in Pennsylvania.
As a quarterback at Downingtown West High School, Howard threw 48 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. In his junior and senior seasons, he posted a 39-to-10 touchdown-to-interception ratio and averaged at least 180 passing yards per game.
Howard held offers from programs such as Cincinnati, Maryland, Kansas Rutgers and Toledo before he committed to Kansas State June 23, 2019.
In the 2020 class, Ohio State landed two four-star quarterbacks in C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller.
Will Howard has the most touchdown passes in Kansas State history

Howard became a record-breaking quarterback in his four seasons at Kansas State.
Howard has the most touchdown passes in Kansas State history with 48 after he tied the school single-season record with 24 touchdown passes in 2023, adding a career-high 2,643 passing yards and a 61.3% completion rate.
Howard is one of four Kansas State quarterbacks to eclipse 40 touchdowns in a career, joining Josh Freeman, Skylar Thompson and Jake Waters.
Howard is fourth in Kansas State history in career completions with 458 and fifth in career passing yards (5,786), pass attempts (779) and total offense per game (197.3).
Howard also rushed for 921 yard and added 19 rushing touchdowns at Kansas State.

Howard helped Kansas State to a Big 12 championship in 2022.
Splitting quarterback duties with former Nebraska signal caller Adrian Martinez, Howard’s 18 touchdowns and 1,633 passing yards in seven games helped the Wildcats to a 10-4 record overall.
Howard started in the Big 12 championship game against TCU, where he completed 18 of 32 pass attempts for 199 yards and three total touchdowns. The Wildcats beat the Horned Frogs 31-28 in overtime for the program’s first conference title since 2012. Kansas State finished the season with a Sugar Bowl loss to Alabama.
In Howard’s four years on Kansas State’s roster, the Wildcats finished with a 28-19 record.
Will Howard is a Pennsylvania native

Howard is from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, which is 33 miles west of Philadelphia.
Howard is one of two Pennsylvania natives on Ohio State’s roster in 2024 along with South Carolina transfer safety Keenan Nelson Jr. (Philadelphia).
