On Wednesday, German police detained a U.S. man suspected of stalking Taylor Swift and making threats against her and boyfriend Travis Kelce on social media.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was trying to attend the global pop star’s concert in the western city of Gelsenkirchen, according to Deadline and other media outlets.
The 34-year-old man, who had a ticket for the show, was taken into custody at the entry control point to the venue before the concert on Wednesday after initial investigations could not rule out that he posed a threat, authorities said.
AP previously reported that organizers of the event tipped off police of the suspect’s concerning online behavior. He had attracted attention by making threats against Swift and her NFL star boyfriend, authorities said, but neither the singer nor concertgoers had been in danger at any time.
A court ordered the man to be held through Saturday.
The Wednesday show was one of three in Gelsenkirchen, which attracted 60,000 fans.
Swift has seven total shows in Germany over the next two weeks, with shows in Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich. The singer will wrap up the European leg of the Eras Tour in August, performing five nights in London.
