Kentucky coach Mark Pope welcomed back to Rupp Arena by Wildcats fans
Former Kentucky basketball player and new head coach Mark Pope is announced at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.

LEXINGTON — At long last, a Kentucky basketball alumni squad will make its debut in The Basketball Tournament, a single-elimination, winner-take-all event featuring 64 teams in which the winning club takes home the $1 million prize.
The UK alumni team, La Familia, will take the floor Friday night against 305 Ballers, a squad formerly known as Athletics Miami.
Coached by former Kentucky star Tyler Ulis, La Familia’s roster boasts its fair share of players who suited up for the Wildcats this millennium, including Eric Bledsoe, Willie Cauley-Stein, Kellan Grady, Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Daniel Orton, Nate Sestina and James Young.
The 305 Ballers have a pair of players who played for power conference teams in college: C.J. Bryce (N.C. State) and Victor Uyaelunmo (Southern Cal).
The winner of Friday’s game advances to the round of 32. That contest will be held Sunday afternoon against the winner of Herd That/Jackson TN Boom, which play at 1 p.m. Friday.
