Andy Reid Gives New Comments on Potential Rashee Rice Suspension

It’s been a sensational two years for the Chiefs and their fanbase. They’ve won the Super Bowl in two straight years and are going for an unprecedented third straight title.

Despite there being things to cheer for, Kansas City has been in the news cycles this offseason for all the wrong reasons. Rashee Rice and Isaiah Buggs both had run-ins with law enforcement, as the Chiefs released Buggs last month.

Now we’re past summer break and the team reported for training camp on July 16. That’s where head coach Andy Reid gave an update regarding Rashee Rice.

Andy Reid on a possible suspension for WR Rashee Rice: “I don’t know that. I haven’t heard anything up to this point.”

Reid adds that he’s going to let the people “in charge” handle that and team will handle in stride.

When speaking with reporters on the first day of camp, Reid was asked for an update regarding Rice’s suspension. He responded, “I don’t know that. I haven’t heard anything up to this point.”

Reid added the organization will let the people “in charge” handle that situation and go from there.

Rice is awaiting his suspension from a car crash that happened down in Texas in March. He’s facing eight charges for a massive car pileup that saw Rice’s car traveling at more than 115 mph before the crash.

It’s likely that Rice will be hit with a multi-game suspension but the exact number of games has yet to be determined.

Regardless of the time frame, Rice’s presence on the field will be missed. As a rookie, he reeled in 79 receptions for 938 yards, and seven touchdowns in the regular season. He continued his stellar play in the postseason, racking up 26 receptions for 262 yards and one score.

Now the Chiefs are going to be forced to suit up without him for a lengthy stretch. Which isn’t needed as they chase their third straight championship.
