What did you miss?

Alan Cumming has admitted he was left “furious” when Taylor Swift turned up to see him in Cabaret.

The Traitors US presenter told the story on The One Show, revealing that pop superstar Swift went to watch him the last time he was in the production on Broadway. He said the singer was taken in via the stage door and that when he spotted her backstage he wondered what was happening.

Cumming said that when Swift then went into theatre, everyone went quiet and the mood was “killed”. Laughing, he said that although he was initially fuming, he talked to Swift afterwards and that she was the “nicest person in the world”.

What, how and why?

He told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: “She came to see me when I was in Cabaret on Broadway the last time. I was furious actually because they brought her in through the stage door – the company manager was a big Taylor fan.

“I was like, ‘Why are we not going? What’s happened?’ You know, pre show, and kind of the mood was killed.”

He went on: “She came in, and I remember thinking. ‘What’s going on?’

“And then she came in and she stood right there. I was about to go on, I was like, what the hell is Taylor Swift doing backstage. She was like, ‘Hi’ and I was like, ‘Hi’.

“And then she went in and everybody was like, quiet, and so the mood of the show was kind of a bit lost at the beginning, so I was kind of furious.”

However, it seems everything changed when Cumming met the singer after the show.

He explained: “And then of course afterwards she was nicest person in the world! I was also furious she was so gorgeous!

“And then she saw my husband (Grant Shaffer) and she said, ‘You must be so proud’ like I was his child… she could not be more charming.”

What did Alan Cumming say about The Traitors US?

Cumming also opened up about the US version of The Traitors, which he hosts. There have been two series of the reality series so far, with a third to come.

And the actor shared that viewers can expect one thing to change, with his doggie sidekick Lala set for a bigger role. The dog – the star’s ‘co-host’ of sorts – has been a popular part of the series across the pond.

“The world spoke, the world wanted more Lala,” Cumming said. “And so she is actually in the series we just shot, she is in it a lot more.”

“She’s in a much more sort of pivotal role,” he laughed.
