Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) announced that it is offering additional flights to support fans trying to see Taylor Swift when the Eras Tour returns to the U.S. during the fall. “Following strong demand from last year’s US tour, the airline is adding more than 10 flights to its schedule to help Swifties get to and from her concerts,” noted the airline in a statement provided to Seeking Alpha. Taylor Swift is scheduled to bring her record-breaking tour to Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in October.
The Taylor Swift Effect is something that has impacted various parts of the consumer sector during the Eras Tour. AMC Entertainment (AMC), National CineMedia (NCMI), Ralph Lauren (RL), Uber Technologies (UBER), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), and Target (TGT) are just some of the companies that have pointed to Taylor Swift-related earnings boosts during their conference calls. Notably, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia confirmed last year that Swift’s tour helped boost travel and tourism in regions where she was performing. In addition, the U.S. Travel Association said that Swift fans spent an average of $1,300 in local economies on travel, hotel costs, food, and merchandise.
The Eras tour is expected to end in December.
