Training camp begins in one week, with the rookies arriving on July 21. Two days later, the veterans are scheduled to report to TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota. One of those veterans, however, might be in trouble.

Almost one year ago, Vikings receiver Jordan Addison appeared in the news for reckless driving, going 140 MPH in a 55 MPH zone in his Lamborgini. He was cited for speeding and reckless driving. The reckless driving charge was dismissed, but he pleaded guilty to the speeding charge, paying a total of $686 in fines and fees.

One day after the incident, he said: “Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgment. I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry.

Now, he once again makes the news.

The Los Angeles Daily News reported on Sunday afternoon about an incident in which Addison was allegedly arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Former USC wide receiver and current Minnesota Vikings star Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after being caught asleep at the wheel near LAX, authorities said Sunday.

The California Highway Patrol was dispatched at about 11:10 p.m. Friday to a report of a disabled vehicle blocking lanes from the westbound Glen Anderson (105) Freeway to northbound Sepulveda Boulevard, according to a CHP statement.

Officers responding to the area reported a white Rolls-Royce blocking the number one lane of the freeway “with the driver asleep behind the wheel,” according to the CHP.

Addison, 22, was arrested at approximately 11:36 p.m. after a DUI investigation was complete. He was released at 1:36 a.m. Saturday, the CHP added.

The franchise released a statement on Sunday evening: “We are aware of Jordan Addison’s arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident.”

Addison is coming off a wonderful rookie season (legal issues aside) in which he claimed the WR2 job and produced 911 yards and ten touchdowns on 70 catches.

He lined up on the opposite side of Justin Jefferson and even stepped into his footsteps when the three-time Pro Bowler was forced to sit out seven games.

In the upcoming season, Minnesota hopes for another jump to have one of the elite receiving duos in the NFL supporting either a reclamation project, Sam Darnold, or rookie J.J. McCarthy.

When the organization gathers all the information, they might take disciplinary action, and a suspension from the league is also possible.

The timing of the arrest is significant, as Addion’s teammate Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a car accident last week, allegedly involving a drunk driver.
