SpaceX Falcon 9 rockets grounded by FAA, putting Space Coast missions on indefinite hold

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket fleet has been grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration after a Thursday launch from California produced an upper-stage failure that deployed a batch of Starlink satellites into an eccentric orbit.

The FAA grounding has immediate impact on the Space Coast’s launch schedule — which is off to a record-breaking pace this year. All told, 46 of the 50 missions thus far during 2024 have been Falcon 9 launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and adjacent NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Florida speeders beware: Police cracking down for ‘Operation Southern Slow Down’

Florida speeders beware.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Florida Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies have joined forces for the annual “Operation Southern Slow Down,” a joint effort with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

State and local law enforcement agencies in all five states will be conducting a week-long speed enforcement awareness campaign from July 15-20 aimed at saving lives and preventing reckless driving and speeding.

Jimmy Buffett’s three Palm Beach homes have hit the market on the same historic street

The three modest houses where the late Jimmy Buffett of “Margaritaville” fame kicked back when he was in Palm Beach have hit the market on Root Trail, a historic street with immediate beach access.

On both sides of Root Trail, the houses are priced individually between $6.124 million and $7.25 million, with a grand total of about $20 million for all three.
