Missouri Football Lands Five Top Recruits in Spectacular Week for Eli Drinkwitz

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz is determined to turn the Tigers into an SEC powerhouse and he’s well on his way, illustrated by securing the commitment of five top recruits in a matter of days during one of his best recruiting weeks atop the program.

Drinkwitz is well on his way to his third top-20 recruiting class. After an 11-win season and Cotton Bowl victory last year, the Tigers have realistic, legitimate College Football Playoff aspirations.

If these recruiting classes are any indication, Missouri will compete for an SEC Championship not only this year, but for the next half-decade.

Four-star CB Charles Bass, originally from St. Louis, was the cherry on top after Drinkwitz secured the commitment of four other exciting recruits earlier in the week.

As Antonio Morales of The Athletic explains, “Missouri went into Florida and landed two four-star receivers last week — Jayvan Boggs of Cocoa High and top-100 prospect Donovan Olugbode of IMG Academy…Missouri followed that on Saturday by landing four-star offensive lineman Lamont Rogers, the No. 55 overall player in the class.”

Throw in 2025 three-star defensive lineman Keiton Jones, whom Missouri beat out Alabama for, and you’ve got an exciting group of five players joining the program.

“The class ranks No. 13 nationally and includes three top-100 prospects,” continues Morales. “And notably is headlined by a quarterback in Matt Zollers who is on the fringe of five-star status.”

Among all SEC programs, the Tigers are firmly in the second tier and rapidly rising. They’re not on Georgia or Alabama’s level, but Missouri’s trajectory should have fans thrilled. If Drinkwitz keeps up his excellent work on the recruiting trail, the Tigers could be a frequent participant in the College Football Playoff moving forward.
