COACH OF THE YEAR
Aaron Abel, Worland
In 2013, Abel took over a program that had gone 1-25 the year before. This season, he guided the Warriors to the Class 3A state championship game, where they lost to Buffalo in double overtime. It was Worland’s first state finals appearance since 1997. The Warriors, who finished 21-6 and won the East, haven’t won a state title since 1921 but will have a chance next year behind juniors Hoyt Nicholas and Chandler Ramos.

Player of the Year
Trey Schroefel, G, Buffalo, 5-9/160, Jr.
The state’s leader in steals per game (4.7) stole the show in the Class 3A state championship, pouring in 42 points in a double-overtime 70-67 thriller over Worland. Schroefel, named to the Casper Star-Tribune’s All-State First Team, finished the season as the state’s ninth-leading scorer (20.0 ppg) and averaged 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
