The Wisconsin football staff has loved recruiting athletes the past two recruiting classes, and has now found one in the 2026 class.
Shavar Young Jr, a 2026 four-star wide receiver and cornerback from Tennessee, has become a top target at the position for the Wisconsin football staff. Young Jr currently holds 30 scholarship offers according to 247Sports and likely will see that number rise before the start of next season. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Young Jr revealed what programs have kept the closest contact as well as what he feels has set him apart from other receivers.

The Wisconsin football staff has searched through the 2026 class to find fast, physical receivers that truly fit their scheme. One such receiver has been Shavar Young Jr, a four-star recruit from Tennessee who shined this past season. Young Jr is currently listed as an athlete, and has plenty of collegiate attention as a defensive back especially.
Young Jr has caught the attention of plenty of power conference programs and now hopes to continue to bring in the offers and interest. When speaking about his play on the field, Young Jr stated “I would describe my type of play as fast, smart, and physical.”
Young Jr also went on to state, “My IQ and not being afraid on the field have set me apart.” The athlete is one of the most offered skill position players in the 2026 recruiting class and clearly has shown coaches he is not your average receiver.

For Young Jr, playing at the next level is not going to be just about succeeding, but rather propelling himself into a position to reach the NFL. The athlete is determined to become the best he can be at his position, but he also realizes that is not something he can do on his own.
When asked about what he is looking for in a program, Young Jr responded “I’m looking for a program that really develops me and can help me take my game to the next level.”
The Wisconsin football staff, and plenty of other programs, are hoping to do just that for the young athlete when he reaches the collegiate level. Young Jr has all the tools to be extremely successful, now it is just about finding the staff that can help mold his success further.

For the Wisconsin football staff and other programs, the key to landing Young Jr is going to involve displaying what the program can do for the athlete. Young Jr has his sights set on reaching the highest levels of play, along with reaching his true potential on the field. In order to do so, however, Young Jr needs a staff that is going to want to see him reach those heights as much as the receiver does.
