Rob Reiner has joined the list of prominent Democrats calling on President Joe Biden to exit the race.
On Sunday, the actor-director posted on X (formerly Twitter): “It’s time to stop fucking around. If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.”

Reiner is the latest prominent Hollywood Democratic backers to call on Biden to step down, following on the heels of Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Damon Lindelof and Abigail Disney. Ari Emanuel also has expressed frustration with the president on the heels of his widely criticized June 27 debate performance against former President Donald Trump.
Reiner’s post comes a week after he hosted a campaign fundraiser at his Brentwood home that was attended by Vice President Kamala Harris, among others. At the June 29 event, Harris defended Biden, saying it wasn’t his “finest hour,” according to news reports. However, she argued that Trump is “a threat to our democracy” and that “none of that changed because of a day in June.”
On Sunday, Biden was campaigning in Pennsylvania, where the 81-year-old joked about his age (“I know I look 40”) and told supporters, “I, honest to God, have never been more optimistic about America’s future if we stick together,” according to the Associated Press.
Other top Democrats in D.C. are divided on whether Biden should exit the race, with some calling for him to bow out and others arguing he should stay in.
The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution have called for Biden to step down.
