Severe heat wave continues in California, bringing some relief from these areas

california heat wave temperatures : Independence Day comes in the middle of a major heat wave that has been breaking temperature records for a long time and bringing some relief overnight.

Conditions on the fourth will vary considerably in different parts of the state. But anywhere from 20 to 30 miles away from the Pacific Ocean will be roasted, making outdoor activities challenging and in many places downright dangerous.

The National Weather Service Bay Area wrote about the serious risks of this heat wave for Californians in its Wednesday evening forecast discussion: It is very likely that we will see many more heat-related deaths during this event, not only from homeless populations that may not be able to survive the deadly heat, but also from people living at home who probably lack air conditioning, or perhaps cannot afford to turn it on, even if they have it. ”

“It is imperative to take measures to protect ourselves, our loved ones and animals during this scorching heat. Given that tomorrow is Independence Day, a holiday in which many activities take place outdoors, extra caution is urged.

Large parts of northern and central California are facing the threat of extreme heat. To check for danger where you are, enter an address below. california heat wave temperatures

Height will not help much in the heat. Temperatures will be very hot with the risk of fires in the foothills and highlands of the coastal range and the Sierra.

The immediate coast, especially in Southern California, will provide the most comfortable conditions for holiday activities. It appears that there is not much risk of coastal cloud cover, so fireworks should not have visibility problems.

Here are the details of the holiday season for the state.

Northern California and the Sierra
Daytime outdoor activities in Northern California will be dangerous due to the extreme heat. Some of the hottest temperatures in the state will be in the interior valleys and foothills, with maximum temperatures in Redding, Chico and Oroville ranging from 109 to 113 degrees, about 15 degrees above normal. Valleys closer to the coast will also experience considerable heat, with places like Ukiah potentially setting a daily record at 111 degrees. california heat wave temperatures

The heat will extend to the heights of the Sierra and Tahoe, where somewhat rare heat advisories will be in effect. From Tahoe to Mammoth Lakes, the elevation will range from 90 to 95 degrees.

Fire weather conditions will remain high, especially in the foothills and gaps of the Sacramento Valley and at higher elevations in the Sierra and coastal ranges. Temperatures will not drop significantly after sunset, will not drop below 100 degrees until after 9 p.m. in some areas, and will drop to the low 70s overnight.

Bay Area and Central Coast
Clear and warm conditions will persist around the Bay Area, with significant temperature differences in the region’s microclimate. Inland areas will be much warmer than coastal areas, with temperatures in the mid-80s in downtown San Francisco versus the mid-60s in Ocean Beach. The sky should be mostly clear for fireworks in the city. The temperature in the interior east and north bay will range between 95 and 108 degrees.

Coastal areas will experience naturally cooler conditions, with highs in the 70s and 80s along Route 1 from Santa Cruz to San Luis Obispo. Watch for cloud cover around Monterey Bay during the evening fireworks display.

Nearly record temperatures are possible from Sacramento to the San Joaquin Valley and further south in Bakersfield, where maximum temperatures will range from 108 to 112 degrees. The heat wave threat will be extreme in this part of the state as well, including the foothills of the Central Valley.

High-altitude areas in the coastal range and along Highway 101 in central California will see highs ranging from 95 to 105 degrees.

Southern California
Southern California’s coastal plains will provide relief from the heat on vacation, with highs ranging from the mid-70s to the 80s in Santa Barbara, Anaheim and San Diego, providing the perfect weather for outdoor activities.

Further inland, temperatures in the interior valleys and high desert will rise from 100 to 115 degrees and above. Most of the fire weather concerns will be in the hills east of Santa Barbara, which stretch through the San Gabriel Mountains. Despite the extreme heat inland, nighttime viewing conditions should be clear in places where fireworks are allowed.
