When Michael Earley got the job as head man for Texas A&M baseball, certain outlets began to report that the Aggies had a good shot to return every single major piece of their team that had just made a run to the College World Series. That was great news at the time, but Aggie fans have still been waiting on pins and needles this whole time, anxious to see what each player would announce.
With these two latest declarations, Aggie fans need wait no longer. Both pitcher Justin Lamkin, so key in the Aggies’ run in Omaha, and OF Caden Sorrell, a bigtime hitter all season as a freshman, have announced that they will be returning to College Station next season.

With these two announcements, every single key player from the starting lineup who entered their name into the portal has declared that they will be returning to the Aggies this upcoming season. The only players that remain in the portal are Max Kaufer, Kaiden Wilson, Carl Schmidt, Jason Bodin, and Isaac Morton; of those, only Wilson made any impact during the Omaha run. Even then, he only faced a few Tennessee batters.

The Aggies now anxiously await word on some decisions from various places. Elite closer Evan Aschenbeck has applied for an extra year of eligibility, so his fate is in the NCAA’s hands. Ali Camarillo is out of the portal, but could head off to the draft. Ace pitcher Ryan Prager could return if he is dissatisfied with his draft position as well.
One thing is for sure, though: after a tumultuous two weeks, this Aggie baseball program has come through smelling like a rose. It was hard to imagine getting here even just one week ago, but here we stand today with a team that has a shot at being preseason #1 in 2025.
