On Monday, July 1, Ohio State received a boost to their 2025 class landing Maxwell Roy, a 4-star defensive lineman out of St. Joseph’s Prep School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This adds to the already loaded 2025 recruiting class for Ohio State. Assistant head coach and defensive line coach Larry Johnson was credited with the recruiting. Johnson has been a great recruiter and coach for the Buckeyes and continues to do so with his work in this 2025 class.

Maxwell Roy Brings Quickness to Ohio State

Maxwell Roy is a 4-star defensive lineman who is the 152-ranked prospect in the nation, and the 19-ranked defensive lineman, per 247Sports.
Maxwell Roy is a quick, explosive interior defensive lineman with an elite get-off. On nearly every play as soon as the ball is snapped, Maxwell gets hands on the offensive lineman first and moves the offensive lineman back. Roy also has a high motor and consistently chases down ball carriers sideline to sideline.
Measuring in at 6’3 285 Maxwell Roy has great size for a defensive lineman and could make an impact as soon as he steps foot on campus. Roy also participates in high school wrestling at the varsity level and displays traits that will translate to the next level.

Maxwell Roy joins the number one ranked 2025 recruiting class in the nation. The Buckeyes currently have three 5-star, fifteen 4-star, and four three-star commitments in their 2025 class, per 247Sports.
With Maxwell Roy’s commitment the Buckeyes now have three interior defensive line commitments in the class, joining London Merritt, and Trajen Odom.
