Recent Alabama decommit could be a target for Ole Miss

While Ole Miss secured a commitment from four-star safety, Cortez Thomas, Alabama, lost two, with Zymear Smith and Myles Johnson decommitting from the program.

Johnson has been committed to Alabama since October 2023 but has said that he has not received much contact from the new coaching staff. Ole Miss and Florida have still been recruiting the four-star linebacker, and now he has opened up his recruitment again, the Rebels may ramp up their efforts in his recruitment.

247Sports has Myles Johnson ranked as the No.27 linebacker in the class of 2025 and the No.16 ranked player in Alabama.

Johnson visited Oxford on February 10, where he enjoyed a fantastic visit. However, Florida still looks like the favorite to land the former Alabama commit. I wouldn’t rule out Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin coming in with a late sweep to try to hijack that.

Four-star safety Jaylan Morgan will announce his decision on July 8 regarding Ole Miss and three other SEC schools. Today, cornerback Major Preston announced he would make his commitment decision the day before, on July 7.

The IMG Academy prospect will decide between Ole Miss, Florida, Colorado, and Virginia Tech. Lane Kiffin has put the Rebels in a good position alongside the Hokies for a chance of a commitment. Preston is ranked the No. 40 cornerback and the No. 65 ranked player in Florida via the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ole Miss will be hoping for a good recruiting weekend as it looks to add to its growing 2025 recruitment class.
