The Wisconsin football staff has been eyeing a specific linebacker from Arizona following a breakout season this past year.
Jaylyn Colter, a 2026 three-star linebacker from Arizona, has been a recruiting target for the Wisconsin football staff since the opening of the recruiting period. Colter currently holds five scholarship offers, but has been receiving plenty of power conference attention the past few weeks. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Colter revealed his thoughts on the Wisconsin football program.

After the opening of the 2026 contact recruiting period, the Wisconsin football staff opened contact with a three-star linebacker named Jaylyn Colter. Colter, who is currently the second-overall ranked recruit in Arizona, holds five scholarship offers currently from big programs. Oregon, Arizona State, Duke, Nevada, and UNLV have all extended offers to the linebacker.
Currently, Colter states, “Oregon, Oregon State, ASU, and Duke have been in really consistent withstanding contact with me and let me know how much I would mean to their programs.” Oregon State has not offered a scholarship to Colter yet, but have been keeping a close eye on the recruit.

For the young linebacker Colter, the recruiting process has been great thus far as he looks for the right program fit. While they have not offered the linebacker yet, Colter was asked about his opinions on Wisconsin and their staff so far. Colter stated, “Honestly I think Wisconsin is an amazing school with super good football culture.”
The linebacker also stated, “They reached out to me for the first time once I was open to recruit.”
As soon as the recruiting period opened, the Wisconsin football staff initiated contact with hundreds of 2026 recruiting they had been scouting. Colter was one of the individuals who had shined on the field this past season, and the Wisconsin football staff wanted to make sure he knew they saw his skills on display.

For the Wisconsin football staff, finding a fit within the team for Colter would not be a hard task due to the similarities he shares in his play-style. Colter is a fast-paced, high motor linebacker that is constantly flying around the field to find the next play. The linebacker does not need to come off the field for smaller packages and provides excellent balance between his rushing ability and coverage ability.
