It seemed like just yesterday that Wyatt Langford was hitting bombs for Florida Baseball and leading the Gators within one game of a national title. Since his last game with Florida, Langford has gone on to prove his unlimited potential at the next level.
And last night in front of a national audience Langford did something no other rookie has ever done in the history of Major League Baseball.
The Texas Rangers have been struggling in their quest to defend their World Series title from last season. Prior to last night’s 11-2 win over Baltimore, Texas had lost six in a row. It’s hard to blame Langford though, who his .309 for the month of June and capped off last night with history.
With his home run in the 8th inning, Langford completed his bid for the cycle and became the first rookie for the Rangers to do so since 1985.

The cycle also gives Langford a distinction that no other rookie in MLB history can claim. According to the Rangers PR account, he is the first rookie ever to hit for the cycle, hit a grand slam, and hit an inside-the-park home run over the course of their rookie season.

Baseball is a game of ups and downs and in time pitchers will find ways to adjust to Langford, forcing him to re-adjust.
But for now he just needs to continue to ride the wave as one of the most exciting rookies in all of Major League Baseball.
