Key New York Knicks Player Reportedly Will Be A Free Agent

Precious Achiuwa is coming off a year where he played for the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks.

The former Memphis star finished the regular season with averages of 7.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 50.1% from the field in 74 games.

On Saturday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Achiuwa will become a free agent who is available to sign with any team in the NBA.

Via Scotto: “Sources: The New York Knicks won’t extend a $6.27 million qualifying offer to Precious Achiuwa, @hoopshype has learned. Achiuwa will become an unrestricted free agent after averaging 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game with the Knicks last season.”

Achiuwa was the 20th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has played four seasons in the league for the Raptors, Heat and Knicks.

His career averages are 7.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 48.1% from the field and 30.1% from the three-point range in 263 regular season games.

He has also appeared in 18 NBA playoff games (three starts).

At just 24, Achiuwa could be an intriguing free agent to other teams around the league.

As for the Knicks, they finished the year with a 50-32 record, which had them as the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

They beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, but lost to Pascal Sikam and the Indiana Pacers in the second round (in seven games).
