Fans will tell you it’s only June, so there is no need to worry about recruiting at Ole Miss. It’s true, however, this week has been a tough pill to swallow for the Rebels with several decommitments.
This weekend, Ole Miss had a shot at recruiting two four-star players. Tight end Da’saahn Brame and edge Julius Holly’s announcements were set for June 29, and the Rebels had an outside chance in their commitments.
Unfortunately, both committed to top Big Ten programs over SEC schools. Julius Holly chose Michigan over Ole Miss, Georgia, and Texas A&M, while Da’saahn Brame committed to Oregon over Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.
Taking the positives, It was big for Ole Miss to be in with a chance of two talented players. Brame was a top-5 tight end in the class. However, the Rebels have a tight end already committed from the 2025 class that they are high on. Holly always looked to be choosing the Wolverines due to his studies, with the University of Michigan being one of the best in studying Engineering.
Despite the bad week, Ole Miss is trending positively for a highly-ranked wide receiver from the 2025 class. Winston Watkins Jr. was spotted at Rivals Five-Star camp sporting “CometotheSip” gloves.

Watkins Jr. is rated a five-star prospect by Rivals and the No.2 wide receiver in the 2025 class. The Florida native was committed to Colorado but decommitted from the program in November 2023. Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Miami are several schools pushing for a commitment for the talented 2025 wide receiver.
Ole Miss has recruited some top wide receivers over the last several seasons, with Watkins Jr. having the potential to be another.
